Set imposingly in one of the prettiest villages in the Cotswolds, Lower Slaughter Manor was largely rebuilt in 1658 by the acclaimed stonemason Valentine Strong, whose son was later to become chief stonemason for St Paul's Cathedral under the direction of Sir Christopher Wren. Its history dates back nearly 1,000 years and it is known that a Manor House stood on the site before the Norman Conquest.
The Grade II star listed Manor, acknowledged to be one of the finest seventeenth century country houses in the area, stands in complete tranquility in its own private grounds on the edge of the village. Within the walled garden is a unique two storey dovecote dating back to the 15th century, when the Manor was a convent.
